Thunderbird And Whale Crib Blanket

A USA-made wool baby blanket created in partnership with Native American artist Larry Ahvakana. The central imagery is inspired by the Iñupiat legend of the Great Spirit Eagle. Legend states that there once was a massive thunderbird so large and powerful that it could hunt and carry a whale—a main source of sustenance for many Native American tribes. To honor the whale, the tribes created the Messenger Feast. The ceremonial dancing and feasting prepares the community for the coming year and ensures the success of future generations. Created exclusively for the American Indian College Fund, a nonprofit organization that helps fund scholarships for Native American students and tribal colleges. Your purchase helps support their honorable mission.
